As Ambassador, SABO supports Fondazione Teatro Donizetti in its initiatives of spreading the renowned artistic inheritance of Gaetano Donizetti, one of the world’s five best-known opera composers.

With the aim of promoting opera as a symbol of Made in Italy, SABO, in collaboration with Fondazione Teatro Donizetti, will open the doors of its corporate headquarters in Bergamo to present – in a world-premiere preview on Tuesday, 30 May 2023, 9:00 PM – “L’amore ai tempi di Gaetano” (“Love in the time of Gaetano”), a new artistic project conceived by soprano Silvia Lorenzi. Joined by Fausto Beccalossi, one of the most respected accordionists on the national and international scene, the event will transform the garden of SABO into a unique stage with a view of Bergamo’s upper town.

For SABO, it’s an honour to host a theatrical event at one of our corporate headquarters during the year when Bergamo, together with Brescia, is “Italian Capital of Culture,” says Germano Peverelli, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SABO S.p.A., “because it gives all of us the opportunity to experience the partnership between art and industry, theatre and business, public institution and entrepreneurship, united by the same goal of enhancing Bergamo’s culture in Italy and in the world.

A culture that becomes a catalyst for relationships. Indeed, the relationship with the Fondazione Teatro Donizetti is a strong bond that has been created at all levels: last January, some employees performed in the great inauguration event “I Nuovi Mille” (“The new thousand”), after days of rehearsals together with professional artists and dancers. In synergy with Fondazione Teatro Donizetti, this time we wanted to bring artistic expression inside the company, by sharing this special moment with our employees – including those from SABO’s foreign offices.

Built at the beginning of the 20th century, the Villa of SABO’s headquarters is located by the ancient Venetian Walls in the most prestigious area of Bergamo. arranged on 4 floors, it covers 1,600 square metres and is surrounded by 3,000 square metres of centuries-old parkland.

This idyllic and romantic setting is ideal for depicting a noble sentiment like love, a woman’s love for Donizetti: in “L’amore ai tempi di Gaetano,” an actress/singer and an accordion will artistically represent this love through music, storytelling, and Donizetti’s arias.

The “illuminated city” – a key theme in the Italian Capital of Culture project – is now reinterpreted in a perspective that, thanks to its stakeholders, highlights artistic creativity, scientific innovation, and Bergamo as a symbol of art and leadership.
