Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers | HALS | SABO®STAB

Hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS) are highly effective for the light stabilization of polyolefins (PE, PP, TPO, TPE), styrenic polymers, polyamides, polyurethanes, polyacetals, adhesives, and sealants. They also contribute to the thermal oxidative stability of polymers (especially polyolefins). HALS are thought to function by terminating photo-oxidation processes in polymers through chemical reaction with free radical and peroxide intermediates.

HALS are typically characterized by their molecular weight characteristics. High molecular weight and polymeric HALS (MW > 1000) are used for the stabilization of PE (thin and thick sections), and thin section applications for other polymers (for example fibers and films made from PP or polyamides). Lower molecular weight HALS are used in the stabilization PP and other polymers for thick section applications such as injection moldings.

SABO®STAB UV 40Advanced polymeric HALS for use in polyolefins, that is particularly recommended for thin section applications (fibers and films). The high molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution lead to low volatility, low die drip, minimal pigment interaction, and excellent resistance to extraction. It also contributes to the thermal oxidative stability of polyolefins. SABO®STAB UV 40 has broad food contact clearances and is provided in a micro-bead form to facilitate handling and dosing.
SABO®STAB UV 62Polymeric HALS effective for use in PE (injection molding, rotational molding, film, and tape applications), EVA, PP fibers, polyurethanes, polyacetals, elastomers, adhesives, and sealants. It is also an excellent light stabilizer for systems containing carbon black. SABO®STAB UV 62 has extensive food contact clearances in the EU, USA, and other countries. It is available in free-flowing beads as well as in powder form.

SABO®STAB UV 65Low molecular weight, liquid HALS effective for use in plastics. Plastic applications include polyurethanes, flexible PVC, styrenic polymers (ABS, ASA), acrylics, unsaturated polyesters, elastomers, adhesives, and sealants. The product is also ideal for use in plastisols and liquid masterbatches for plastics.
SABO®STAB UV 70Low molecular weight HALS effective for use in PP, TPO, styrenic polymers (HIPS, SAN, ABS, ASA), polyamides, polyurethanes, polyacetals, acrylics, elastomers, adhesives, and sealants. While especially useful in thick-section applications, the product is also suitable for use in thin-section applications such as PP film and tapes. SABO®STAB UV 70 is available in dust-free granules for improved hygiene and to facilitate handling and dosing.
SABO®STAB UV 78Versatile HALS blend used in a broad range of polymers in both thin and thick section applications. It is particularly useful in PE (injection molding, film, and tape), PP (injection molding, film, and fibers), TPO, polyamide fibers, flexible and rigid PVC, styrenic TPE, polyurethanes, and specialty adhesives. SABO®STAB UV 78 has extensive food contact clearances and is available in micro-bead form to facilitate handling and dosing.
SABO®STAB UV 79Polymeric HALS for use in PE (injection molding, rotational molding, water & gas pipe, film, and tape applications), PP (injection molding, film, and fiber applications), TPO, polyamide fibers, flexible and rigid PVC, styrenic TPE’s, polyurethanes, and specialty adhesive applications. SABO®STAB UV 79 is available in a free-flowing pastille form to facilitate handling and dosing.
SABO®STAB UV 91High performance, low molecular weight HALS highly effective for use in PP (film, tape, and injection molding applications), TPO, and PE (film, tape, and injection molding applications). The product is also useful for the light stabilization of polyacetals, polyamides, styrenic polymers, and PUR.
SABO®STAB UV 91 50PP50% active concentrate of the high performance HALS SABO®STAB UV 91 in a polypropylene carrier resin. This product is particularly suited for use in PP applications and in TPO, where it shows superior performance as compared to other low molecular weight HALS. End use applications for which this product is ideal include PP and TPO automotive exterior/interior parts, TPO roofing membranes, and PP outdoor furniture.
SABO®STAB UV 94Polymeric HALS for use in PE (injection molding, film, and tape applications), PP (injection molding, film, and fiber applications), TPO, polyamide fibers, flexible and rigid PVC, styrenic TPE’s, polyurethanes, and specialty adhesive applications. It is also suitable for use in xylene XLDPE. SABO®STAB UV 94 has extensive food contact clearances in the EU, USA, and other countries. It is available in dust-free micro-beads for improved hygiene and to facilitate handling and dosing.
SABO®STAB UV 119High molecular weight HALS featuring reduced interaction with agricultural chemicals, pigments, and fillers. This attribute makes the product ideal for use in demanding applications such as PE-based agricultural films, PP fibers, and talc-filled PP and TPO automotive parts. It is also suitable for use in other polymers and applications, including styrenic polymers (ABS, ASA), polyamide fibers, polyurethanes, and elastomers.
